We have two rule changes, otherwise, everything else stays as is.
The first rule change is that we are eliminating the “first-come, first-served” boat numbering. We will draw boat numbers by random assignment.
The second rule change (based on club vote) is that the 2026-point circuit final standings will be based on a team’s best 3 events. In other words, if a team fishes all 4 events, they can “drop” their lowest finish.
To participate in any NJBF events, you must be a NJBF member. Interested but not a member, contact Secretary Nick Angiulo at nickangiulo@verizon.net for more information.

LAKE HOPATCONG RESULTS
The final point event on the 2025 season was a good one! That event, held on July 27, 2025, at Lake Hopatcong under overcast and rainy weather had 23 teams hit the lake, where most found fish willing to bite. The only difficulty was getting bigger fish, as most teams indicated having no issue catching fish in the two-pound class, but struggled to get the bigger fish that make the difference between an average finish and a top finish.
None of that mattered to the winner of the event, as Al Hudson, fishing solo, smashed a five-fish limit weighing 18.00 pounds. Amazingly, Hudson indicated losing several other fish that would have pushed his weighed over 20 pounds. For the win, he received the $2,400 first prize check.

Finishing an excruciatingly close second was the brother team of Brian Wisniewski and Corey Wisniewski. That team rode a late big fish bite to post 17.84 pounds, another excellent summertime weight for Hopatcong. That team received $1,220 for second place.

The team of Mike McMahon and C.J. Tuite parlayed the big fish for the event, a 5.81-pound beast, to anchor their third-place winning weight of 14.43 pounds. That team received $750 for third place and an additional $460 for the lunker.

GREENWOOD LAKE RESULTS
The third point event on the 2025 season marked the return of the New Jersey Bass Federation to a lake last visited more than 10 years ago. Greenwood Lake, which borders New Jersey and New York is an enigmatic fishery that holds both goof populations of largemouth and smallmouth bass. However, those fish, especially the larger ones, have high fish IQs, and catching a big five-fish weight is challenging. Nevertheless, the 22 participating teams found the bass generally biting on a day marked by unusual cool conditions in the morning and seasonable summer temperatures in the afternoon.

The winning team made it look easy. That team, consisting of Scott Weiland and Joe Sodora weighed in a solid five-fish limit of 14.76 pounds, almost two pounds ahead of their nearest competitors. For their victory, the team received $2,200. Taking their second consecutive second-place was the team of Mike Keller and Derick Olson. That team’s five-fish limit went 12.93 pounds and was worth $1,150. Just barely behind with 12.67 pounds was the team of Mike Maloney and C.J. Tuite. That team received $650. The big fish for the event, a 3.55 pound largemouth was caught by the team of Brian Wittig and Mike Lee, and was worth $440.
The last point event of the season is July 27 on Lake Hopatcong.

NORTHERN CHESAPEAKE RESULTS
The second point event on the 2025 season can be summed up in one word . . . WIND! Yes, the June 1, 2025, event held on the Northern Chesapeake Bay was a windy one, with non-stop 15-25 mph west winds. This “blew-out” many teams spots and made navigating and fishing exceedingly difficult. The cold weather did not make it any easier, as the temperatures only made it to 70 degrees, and that was at the end of the event.
No matter, as the 17 participating teams still found enough 15-inch and bigger-sized bass to make it a highly competitive event.
The winning team of Mike Aspinwall, Sr. and Joshua Jones stunningly took the win with one less than a five-fish limit. Their creel of four fish weighed a healthy 16.85 pounds and was anchored by the big fish of the event, a 5.95-pound monster. For their victory, the team received $1,820 and an additional $340 for the lunker winner.

Just more than two ounces behind with a five-fish limit weighing 16.71 pounds was the team of Mike Keller and Derick Olson. That team received $1,020. The race for third place had four teams within one pound of another. Coming out on top with 15.15 pounds was the team of Mike Wallace and Patrick Staszewsky. That team was awarded the $530 third place check. The next point event is June 28 (Saturday) on Greenwood Lake.
